Interesting fastening.  The sailor pants on the Sewing Bee were similar I think.

Way, way back in the early 1970s I made a Vogue designer skirt from Anne Klein with that type of opening/fastening. I loved that skirt and made several in different fabrics. I even wore it to my interviews for my first teaching jobs. Alas and alack  - that pattern is a size 10 and it would probably now only fit one of my thighs!! Sigh.  :P

They look great - is the only fastening that hook and eye?  would it be possible to construct the back with a split waistband so it could be let out (or taken in  :laughing:) quite simply?
