2023 & 2024 Quiltalongathon for the Sparkling Stars Quilt
« on: December 18, 2022, 13:55:41 PM »
Welcome to the 2023 Quiltalongathon for the Sparkling Stars Quilt.

This started out as the 2021 BOM Mystery Quiltalongathon, created by Iminei.
Some of us were not able to do the Mystery Quiltalongathon at the time, but have decided to do it now.

The instructions for each block are in 2021 BOM Mystery Quiltalongathon

--------------------

I have been gradually acquiring the bits and pieces I would need to make this quilt and plan to work on it in 2023.
I'm going to follow it in order sticking to @Iminei 's colour way to keep it simple(ish) and allow myself 6 to 8 weeks for each block.
I will try to do my best work, but as its only my 3rd quilt I'm hoping the quilt police will stay locked away and give me a bit of leeway especially on the trickier blocks.

I'll be back in January!

Don't you worry about the quilt police - I have them well under control.   :thumb:
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Are they still in the shed @Acorn or have they been given a little leeway  for Christmas?

They're in the field shelter, but they do have the cover for the polytunnel to huddle under.  Well I'm not going to give them quilts, am I!!

@Acorn  :laughing: :laughing:

I will join in if that's OK, @SewRuthieSews - I still have 16 to make so no chance of finishing in 2022 now!

@SewRuthieSews  ... lovely to hear you are going to make this quilt and maybe your involvement will spur me onto quilt mine!

Just one thing to say about it ... (and this is for you too @Flobear ) When you come to the Aquamarine Star (Block 2) and The Amethyst Star (Block 3)  DONT Sweat the small stuff!!

I made countless stars before I realised and just chose the best as the points are a bugger to get right and the gap between them will never match exactly ... As long as it looks good .. Youre done!

As they say no-one notices the tiny differences when they look at the whole!

I found the Amethyst block OK to do.

Here's my 'one of each' pic. to end 2022

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I've made 3 Emerald, 2 each of Citrine, Ruby and Mexican Fire Opal (from Amethyst instructions) 1 each of Sapphire and Aquamarine (My Ohio star variation).

Ooh, that's going to be a fabulous quilt.  I think the lack of purple fabric was probably fortuitous as the orange block really adds something to the mix.
Life's too short for ironing.

I think I'm going to join in this time around. I've been looking for a pattern that I would like hanging in our new house, and this will look nice done up in my house colors.
