Yesterday was sorting out the fabric into sections.
There are 26 different patterns.   :rolleyes:

I'm a reasonable fan of Kaffe Fasset designs, but of late I have found the fabric to be of a poor quality, a rather loose weave that stretches all over the place!  It also frays like the devil!
I have learnt by my mistakes: Sewing machines now are Bernina 720, Bernina 1008, Bernina 801 from 1981, Brother overlocker, ancient but works well

@KayK  Yes, that's what I've found today.
 First cuts went wrong but I now know to take more care.
I  do have enough fabric as long as I don't make too many cutting errors.  Then it will just be a smaller quilt :D

I have always coveted KF fabric, could afford only very little of it, but if the quality is becoming so bad that it frays easily my desire may be well and truly quashed. What a relief.

@Bjay Try using (quite a bit of) spray starch before you cut

Aaah thanks - just the sort of tip I need. I have cut out the larger squares but spray starch could be the answer next when I will be cutting smaller pieces.  :D :

Check your machine doesn't mind it, though.

I use ‘Mary Ellen’s Best Press’ for floppy cotton… it’s best bought in larger quantities from Amazon, & it really works!

But don't buy the "linen" scented one. Smells like cheap soap when the iron hits it. The lavender is quite nice. You can't go wrong with the unscented.
Hey Bill! Read the manual!  Hehehe.

Gosh what a lot of advice. Haven't heard of 'Best Press.'

I have spent most of afternoon going nowhere and then had a eureka moment and realised the best way of cutting lots of little  bits and  bobs.
Should be quicker now but still not a stitch sewn - one day!
