Full restoration project.

I’ve been desperate to share this with someone who will appreciate it. I came into possession of a very neglected 128 which had been left in a barn for 40+ years and who knows how long it had been since it was last used.
It was so full of rust and dirt that it was incapable of any movement.
After months of completely stripping it down and rebuilding Meredith is finally sewing again for the first time in decades.
The treadle still needs some extra varnishing but finally I have one foot over the finish line.

Oh that's just beautiful! Did you paint the table yourself? Great job.

Thank you Lachica. Yes I did, it’s not what I intended to do with it but I reached a point where I decided that I have already done so much with this machine that I may as well have fun with it and make it really unique.

SewRuthieSews it seems to be going that way, I have several projects lined up. This was a real learning curve, I had no experience and was using it more as a way to learn about the inner workings without putting one of my working machines at risk. Luckily it paid off and now I have the restoration bug much to my husbands dismay as the living room is like a singer museum now.

WOW!!!

What a fantastic restoration job you’ve done! I love what you’ve done with the table too, it’s so pretty.

What made you decide to tackle this project as it was obviously in quite a state to begin with? Had you done anything similar before?
