My quilt guild is gearing up for next year’s show. We all make some throw pillows, to be given as door prizes. I just finished one, using a couple of extra 9-patch squares.

Lovely cushions - you even have matching fastenings.  :D
Can I ask - what are ‘door prizes’?

@Sheilago everyone pays admission to get into the quilt show.  We put a stamp on some of the tickets.  If your ticket has the stamp, you get to pick a throw pillow to take home.  Each guild member makes one or two, so there are at least 50 chances to win one.

I have started work on another one. The central blocks are made from HST’s in a black/white Diamond pattern paired with a yellow-green print. The yellow-green is subtle, so the 2 prints together are not blinding.  I’m not actually crazy about the green, but A) it came as part of a bundle of fat quarters and B)people like all sorts of colors; even ones that I don’t like.

Still thinking about the border. I’m leaning toward some sand-colored jelly-roll strips, as I have more than enough of them.

Here is the outside of the second pillow cover.  I still have to make the lining. I will probably use the same fabric I used for the other one, because I have loads of it.

Lovely pillows/cushion covers. What a great idea!

@Sara-S   I usually think of a pillow as a large rectangular shaped cushion on a bed and everything else is just a cushion inc. the seats on a sofa/couch. 😁

Do you also distinguish between cushions and pillows or are the words fairly interchangeable? I was thinking there ought to be a specific word for the fat cushions you sit on but I can’t think of one. 🤔

This would be a decorative pillow, rather than a cushion that is an integral part of the sofa. So I think of this as a throw pillow.

Thanks, BTW.  Glad you like the colors.

It’s done now.  I had a bit of trouble with the lining, so there is a spot where it bunches up a bit. I used snaps that match the yellow-green center fabric.
