I started on a carry/storage bag for a bow trainer called an Accubow;

Accubow

It can be safely drawn and released without an arrow, making it useful to home practice. But I’ve got to store it when it’s not in use. I have a big piece of soft magenta leather that I am using to make a storage bag.

So far, I have cut the pieces, sewn on a pocket and sewn the front & back together. I have also made the box pleats. I still need to put a bunch of snaps across the top & sew on the straps. I will be using nylon webbing (I didn’t have enough of the magenta leather to make straps.

This has been challenging as it is the biggest thing I have sewn from leather. Also, making the box pleats meant sewing across thick seams. What worked was just turning the hand wheel & going one stitch at a time, over the thickest parts.

Brilliant!
I’m looking at the bag and thinking….”I’d love to make a handbag in that leather”  :loveit:

Thanks! It probably would make a nice handbag.

As for sewing leather, it can be challenging, but it’s mostly about having the right equipment. You need a heavy-duty sewing machine. For me, that’s my Janome.

You also need the right feet. When the right side (the smooth side) is face-up, a nylon foot works well.  When the rough side is face-up, a walking foot does the job.  Also, you need needles that are made for sewing leather.

When I read the title I thought it would be a bag with a leather bow on it  :embarrassed:
It's a fabulous colour though.

I was looking for the bow while looking right at the bow  :headbang:
As it neared the top of the grade, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I—think—I—can, I—think—I—can." It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I thought I could,  I thought I could."

I've misinterpreted my share of thread titles too. But very few of my misinterpretations are fit for polite company.

And I'm glad you like the color.  Today I am attaching the straps, which will complete it. (Nothing too fancy-just black nylon web straps.)
