« on: December 31, 2023, 19:41:35 PM »
Happy New Year one and all

Although we haven't got the full schedule available yet, we have decided on the first of 2024. Thank you to realale for the idea  :thumb:

Warm and Cosy

1st January to 29th February 2024

In this winter season we are looking for anything
that can keep the warmth in and the cold out.

Light and Darksiders as well as free and easy types are encouraged to join in.

Knitted or crocheted items - could be socks, hats gloves, jumpers, shawls, perhaps dog coats, cat blankets...

P&Q - lap quilts, back of the sofa quilts, even teapot cosies  :D

Clothing - Items made from fabrics that keep out the cold, indoors or outdoors, also nightwear, dressing gowns and the like

It would be great to see a goodly number of entries and a progress pic or two 'pour encourager les autres'.

:vintage: :vintage: :sew: :sew: :thread: :thread:

Please submit your entries by 1st March in this thread using the template below

Details to include:

Your User Name and Entry Number (if entering more than once)

What it is with a short description on how you made it, any problems overcome etc.

Up to 4 photos.

There will be a poll for Forum members to vote for their favourite(s).
(Number of votes will be proportional to the number of entries. If there are only 1 or 2 entries we won't run the poll.)

The winner can choose from The Sewing Place
Prize Winners' Enamel badge or Sew on Embroidered Patch.

Actually I did have plans to make a black coat from several black wool fabrics so maybe I'll pop that one in for this contest!

I've got wool ready for 2 new sweaters! One is a Petiteknit v neck ( She's Danish and makes lovely knits), and the other is a Drops cable knit.
A day without sewing is a day wasted.

Great beginning to the year!

Wait - there is a 29th of February this year???

Exactly @William. It's a Leap Year so you have a whole extra day to finish your entry  ;)

Just about to embark upon a new coat using Marilla Walker's Honetone coat pattern and some tasty Donegal tweed so hopefully I can submit this. I'm changing the habits of a lifetime by making a toile first from an old white sheet. This won't be a wearable toile.... unless I feel the urge to wear a lab coat.....

@Ouryve ooh where did you get your sweater knits from?  I’ve just ordered a couple and I’ve found that sometimes I found that searching  for ‘cardigan knits' gave me a better selection.

I might be persuaded to join in with this as I have a couple of cardigans I want to sew.  I’d like to do some socks but I doubt I’d get those done in time!

Minerva, of all places, @Ohsewsimple. I had been tempted by some Mind the Maker knit fabrics, elsewhere (used them before - lovely quality) and they had a load on sale, so I ordered a selection.

Thank goodness I made my coat toile as the one I've made feels far too tight across the shoulders so I'll.either need to size up or use one of my TNT Style Arc coat patterns such as Petra or Parker .  ::thinks::

Thanks @Ouryve.  I’ve used them a fair bit because of the choice.  But I’ve recently been checking out prices on various sites and cannot believe the difference I’m finding for the same thing.  Minerva actually comes out quite expensive.  But so did Croftmill for something I wanted and that was a surprise.
