My fabric is too thick. How to set my machine to sew through a woolly jumper?

Arloony

Hello,

I'm trying to fix a hole under the arm of a woolly jumper...my machine will instantly read LO and stop working. Did all the troubleshooting options, still getting this warning. I changed the needle as well and still not working....this is so frustrating!
What am I doing wrong?

My machine is Janome 5060QDC.

Hope you can help me

I'd sew it by hand, much less noticeable than machine stitching
'Jill' of many aspects of sewing, "Mistress" of few.

I would hand stitch, as well - probably quicker than persuading a machine to cooperate.

Is it just a seam that has come apart or has the knit started to unravel? If there are no loose ends to catch, back stitch or mattress stitch/ ladder stitch should do the job.
Janome M50QDC - "Jane" - Small, cute and hard working. Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 - "Pfanny" - Pfickle. Bernina L450 - "Bernie" - Very hungry. Bernina 830 Record - "Becky"

There's too much pressure on your machines foot to sew fabric like that, sorry. You'd be far better sewing it by hand with wool if you have any, you'll get a much neater finish and more than likely invisible repair.

Thank you for the feedback...all done by hand now :)
