I've read through all the information and think it's good and better than the Schmetz information sheets.
As it is difficult to buy specialist needles locally I buy my Schmetz needles from the Ironing Press Company, they are usually delivered by return of post and, as a bonus, a needle threader is included.

I second the Ironing Press company -excellent service, super value too!  At least half the price of the local sewing shops as well (I do like to support local, but sometimes the prices are eye-watering!)
I have learnt by my mistakes: Sewing machines now are Bernina 720, Bernina 1008, Bernina 801 from 1981, Brother overlocker, ancient but works well

Thanks @SewRuthieSews . I’ve kept that as I’m never sure about needle sizes and types.

Interesting - that one doesn't explain the difference between "stretch" and "jersey" needles.  Don't ask me what the difference is, but there is one!!

@Bodgeitandscarper  the difference is explained here.
Brenda.  My machines are: Corona, a 1953 Singer 201K-3, Caroline, a 1940 Singer 201K-3, Thirza, 1949 Singer 221K, Azilia, 1957 Singer 201K-MK2 and Vera, a Husqvarna 350 SewEasy about 20 years old. Also Bernina 1150 overlocker and Elna 444 Coverstitcher.

The difference is that Jane doesn't like jersey needles and Pfanny doesn't like stretch needles. For the exact same fabrics
Janome M50QDC - "Jane" - Small, cute and hard working. Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 - "Pfanny" - Pfickle. Bernina L450 - "Bernie" - Very hungry. Bernina 830 Record - "Becky"

Not as nicely presented but Couling have published a pretty comprehensive list of needle recommendations
