Singer 431g - should I???

Anyone got one or used one?  They are supposed to be on the best old Singers.  I really want to press that "buy" button but...

i could have used that last month!  I would still like it but:
a.  no more space for machines
b. collection in person from Newcastle.
Yarn down:  1000g
Fabric down:  29m

I've decided against it as after a bit more research, I've read that the pins that hold the needle plate on are prone to breaking, and impossible to find any replacements, even Helen Howes has given up trying to source any.  And of course, this machine's pins are partly broken.
