I can't believe I am contemplating it....I have Bernice the Bernina 710 and I am meant to love her. :-[ But can I tell you a secret? I think I was just infatuated with her, I was dazzled by her whizzy computer screen and 9mm feed dogs and now, 2 years later it's starting to wane. She's temperamental and finicky and I think she needs to be owned and operated by a maestro. And now I've stumbled upon the Juki and it just seems to call to me.....it's a straight stitch only machine, it's sturdy, mechanical, no nonsense, no gazillion tricks or stitches...just an honest work horse that according to all the reviews I've read, will piece and straight stitch quilt including fmq, until the end of time.
I now realise I don't need all the bells and whistles of the Bernina. I have come to the realisation that I will never use the decorative stitches, or zipper-thingy foot, or button-holey foot and whilst the BSR is nice it isn't the bees knees either. And all the computer push button whizzy things..meh. :
I will never sew clothes, or furnishings, or tizzy little things for the grandchildren...I just want to quilt...that's it.
And then today I just happened to drive a different way home (oh really??) and found myself at the Juki dealer...and I went in...and I looked at it...and I had a wee sew on it....and I fell in love...really, truly in love. And DH is picking up a new motorbike on the weekend so surely, surely I can have a new sewing machine...surely?
Shhhhhhh...just don't tell Bernice the Bernina.....anyhow, she might just like a new home with someone who wants to truly use all her capabilities...I'm doing her a favour aren't I????
