Which seam for alteration?

Which seam for alteration?
« on: August 08, 2018, 19:01:19 PM »
I'm losing weight (Yay!)  and pulling out clothes that fit again. Below is a pair of overall shorts that I really like, except they have the huge wide legs that may be in proportion to the rest of the garment, but look like I'm wearing a whole skirt on each leg. I'd like to take them in a bit, but which seam should I take in?  Outside seam is flat-felled. More work, but I can do it. Inside seam is the easy one, but will it make the leg hang funny?

You've got to take both the inside and outside seam in or they won't hang properly.

I’d leave them alone... but that’s just lazy old me!.. if you take them in too much they will be tight when you sit down.

Taking in the inside seam will only make the legs narrower.  If you want to make the shorts narrower in the waist-hip area it has to be the outside seams.
