What should I make?

What should I make?
« on: February 03, 2020, 20:27:36 PM »
I got some lovely spring fabrics from new makower range in my monthly subscription box. 9 fat eighths and a skinny quarter. I'm not really feeling the suggested patterns this month so does anyone have any ideas of things to make?  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Possibly... but we dont tend to eat at the table much and are away for Easter. You're right it would be ideal for placemats

Haha! That is almost identical to one of the patterns they had suggested, Great minds Imi... Unfortunately I have no need for any form of cot quilt and I’m not really a fan of just joining squares together. I am obviously too demanding  ;)

Hmmm...

I look at P&Q fabrics firstly by colour and then by value (light/medium/dark) and if they were mine they would probably all just go into the appropriate colour box; several would be in the 'multi' box.

The two  fabrics with sheep  I would find very difficult to incorporate into patchwork.  I think they have to be left as biggish pieces, perhaps as place mats and use the other fabrics as borders.

Do you have any little ones to sew for?  Maybe a bag or box to contain a chocolate easter egg.

I love those fabrics. They’d make a beautiful child’s quilt, but would also make lovely storage bags, makeup bags etc. Some would make a perfect start for this year’s Project Linus animal theme quilt!

Thanks everyone. No little ones to sew for but I will let you know what I come up with. Might go down the table runner route...

They do seem to be cheery spring lots that would make great placemats or table runners.  What about making some for gifts, if you don’t need them for yourself?

Have you ever tried 10-minute table runners? They really take about 45 minutes each, but they are easy, fun and would work with some of those fabrics. Here’s a link;

@Lilian it is bramblepatch online. They have just put their prices up from £19.95 to £24.50 so I am monitoring it to see if I can justify that. They have been very good previously - charm packs, fat quarter or fat eighth bundles, plus haberdashery and 1 or 2 suggested projects a.d patterns for it. Always branded fabric - moda, makower, Lewis & Irene etc
