Another vote for the black and white option. To my eye, it seems to tie the pairs of coloured blocks together better than the mixed option.

Erm.. I may be being stupid but the 2 pics I can see look exactly the same as each other

@Lowena. The bottom pic has a black and white centre square. The top pic has a coloured centre square.

@Lowena, it's the centre block that's different.
If you do Ctrl with -, the screen will scale smaller and you'll be able to see both blocks at the same time.  When you do it jumps out.




the version with the black and white in the centre shows up the colour symmetry because it creates a lighter zone and a focus point.
what will it look like when you have several blocks separated with sashing?

I think you need to see a layout that includes more of the pattern repeat before you decide.

I like the bottom one. I don’t know why, but the black and white block seems to pull the others together.
